3 Ways To Give Your Bathroom A Much-Needed Upgrade

While most people don’t spend a ton of time in their bathroom each day, the time that is spent in there should leave you feeling clean, relaxed and ready to meet the rest of your day. However, if you’re trying to use a bathroom that’s old, dingy, or out-of-date, you might find yourself feeling less than enthused about the time you’re spending in the bathroom.

To help you turn your bathroom into a room in your house that you actually enjoy spending time, even if it’s just for a small portion of your day, here are three ways you can give your bathroom a much-needed upgrade.

Install A Window

In many bathrooms of the past, a window wasn’t thought of as something that was a necessity. And while having a fan or vent in the bathroom can help a lot with humidity and moisture, Anabelle Bernard Fournier, a contributor to The Spruce, shares that even these features can’t replace natural ventilation when it comes to keeping your bathroom free of mold and mildew.

Knowing this, you may want to consider adding a window to your bathroom if an exterior wall is available. If you do choose to do this, make sure that you think about the privacy aspect as well as the ventilation aspect. Ideally, you should try to install a window that’s either pretty close to the ceiling of the bathroom or that has frosted glass so others can’t see inside.

Get Some Additional Storage

Sadly, many bathrooms weren’t originally built with storage options that are sufficient for the space that people often need for their toiletries and hygiene products. So if this is the case for your bathroom at home, you may want to consider adding some more storage to the space as you upgrade.

To do this, Caitlin Sole, a contributor to Better Homes and Gardens, suggests getting a new vanity that has more storage underneath it. Another option could be to install some floating shelves or hooks and rods if the storage that you’re needing is for more towels and linens rather than hygiene products. If you are interested you can check out some great bathroom wall decor ideas.

Put In A New Toilet

Sometimes, what your bathroom really needs in order to get an upgrade is a whole new toilet. Especially if you can’t remember the last time your toilet was replaced, you may want to consider starting with a clean slate here.

According to Tracey Anderson, a contributor to BobVila.com, replacing a toilet is actually fairly easy. If you’ve never done it before, you can find lots of resources online. And while you’re at it, you might as well get a bidet installed as well if you’re really wanting your bathroom to feel like a brand new space.

If you’re ready to give your bathroom a facelift, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you choose the best options for your space.
